Steps for success
Choosing the most fulfilling career requires knowledge of oneself and one’s personal drivers. When the threads of meaning, purpose, hope, and social and ecological contributions are woven into the career identities of learners, they are better able to build resilience and navigate career-life transitions.
The innovative career counselling approach, termed “career construction counselling” (conceptualised by Mark Savickas), is a groundbreaking concept. It empowers individuals to perceive that they have meaningfully contributed to the world, establishing a lasting legacy that surpasses their physical presence. In doing so, they honour the legacy of those who have mattered most to them – be it individuals, causes, animals or entities that offered unwavering support and a nurturing environment. Its potential in both individual and group settings in developing countries (Global South) remains largely untapped due to limited research.
